James Cornsilk is a freelance video journalist, documentary cinematographer and journalism lecturer based in Paris, France. Before relocating to France, he was a national video journalist for The Washington Post based in San Francisco, CA.

Before joining The Post, he was a freelance director of photography, shooting for A&E, Arte, HBO, Vice, Netflix, The PBS Newshour, The Wall Street Journal, and more. His documentary work has taken him to Kenya, Palestine, France and Greece. He earned a master’s degree in documentary production from the University of California Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.
